Sad Waves Post Tsunami India

Arriving in Chennai in India, first impresssions were the heavy hand of heat and the multitudes of people. My wonderful hosts, Oli and his beautiful wife took me for a drive down to the seafront where the tsunami hit. The actual town was not too badly hit - the sand expanse from the main road out to the shoreline is immense. It was the fishing people 200 kms away who live on the beach who faced the death and destruction.

On the main beach there are myriads of businesses - wagons and carts that setup food stalls in the evening. The only fortunate aspect of the tsunami was that it hit in the morning - had it been the evening, there would have been up to 4,000 people strolling and buying food.

I gave a talk to the Rotary Club last night. There were two young men who were counselling tsunami victims - one asked me how to get a child who has suffered to begin to speak again.

My answer - speechless myself - just love.
We all need love.
sending you mine.
